I am beyond excited to share something that could truly transform the way I approach affiliate marketing, TikTok Shop Affiliate. This past week, I had my first training session with Dean. If you’re not familiar with TikTok Shop, don’t worry, I’ll explain it in just a moment and you will want to hear all about it, so stay tuned.😊 I can already tell it’s going to be an incredible journey! I’m thrilled to dive in and learn how to fully leverage TikTok Shop Affiliate to build my business. With TikTok Shop being live for a little over a year now and offering a new way for creators and marketers to monetize content, I believe this is the future of affiliate marketing and I can’t wait to see where it leads!
What is TikTok Shop Affiliate?
TikTok Shop Affiliate allows creators and affiliate marketers like myself to partner with brands and promote their products directly on the TikTok platform. It’s an exciting feature that integrates shopping experiences seamlessly into TikTok’s videos, live streams, and product catalogs. Viewers can purchase products without ever leaving the app, which significantly boosts conversion rates for both merchants and affiliates.
However, there are some rules to getting accepted
To qualify as a TikTok Shop Creator, you typically need:
- 1,000 to 5,000 followers, depending on your region.
- Original content that follows TikTok’s community guidelines.
- Eligibility by age and location, usually 18+ and in supported countries.
Apply via the TikTok app under “Creator Tools” > “TikTok Shop for Creator.” TikTok may invite creators to join TikTok Shop earlier than the usual 1,000 to 5,000 follower requirement if they recognize significant potential or exceptional engagement with their content. Approval usually takes 1-3 business days.
It’s a win-win for affiliates and brands alike, and it’s only going to grow in the future. Once accepted, the opportunities are endless!

While TikTok Shop Is a Great Opportunity, Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket
While TikTok Shop presents incredible opportunities to grow as an affiliate marketer, it’s important to remember that TikTok is still governed by its platform rules. If you post something that doesn’t comply with their guidelines, there is a chance your account or affiliate privileges could be impacted. However, by understanding and adhering to these rules, you can significantly reduce that risk.
It’s also important to consider the bigger picture. For instance, we’ve recently heard concerns about TikTok potentially being banned in the USA. This highlights why it’s crucial not to put all your eggs in one basket. TikTok shop is a great opportunity, but having your own website and email list is a smart strategy because they are assets you fully control. That way, if anything happens to TikTok or any other platform, your business remains secure with having your own website.
For me, building my owned asset through my website and email list is my priority. This allows me to take full advantage of TikTok’s opportunities while ensuring I have other options available to me. It’s all about balancing immediate opportunities with long-term sustainability and resilience, which is why I’m continuing to grow both on TikTok and with my own website.
TikTok Shop Affiliate Success Starts with Dean’s Training
