Hello there and welcome back to my blog!
I hope everyone has had a great week…
The past couple of weeks have felt like I’ve been living in two worlds, one where I’m trying to master my TikTok videos and the other where I’m preparing for actual storms. Balancing the creative effort of improving my content while also getting ready for the unpredictable forces of nature has been a juggling act. Between figuring out TikTok’s elusive algorithm and prepping for back-to-back hurricanes, life has been a little unpredictable lately. Sometimes, that’s just how it goes, you push through, even when things feel chaotic.
Still Working on Those TikTok Videos
Let me start by saying that mastering TikTok isn’t as simple as it may seem. I’ve been posting regularly, but it’s more than just showing up. There’s planning, shooting, editing, adding music, and making sure it hits the right trend. Then once that’s done, you wait to see if the algorithm decides to favor your video or bury it.
I’ve learned a lot in this process, but I’m far from mastering it. Every day, I’m discovering something new about the platform. Whether it’s optimizing the timing of my posts, balancing trending sounds with original content, or figuring out which hooks actually grab attention, there’s always something new to consider.
I’ll be honest, the past few weeks have been exhausting. I’ve hit a bit of a wall with TikTok, and burnout has started creeping in. It happens to all of us though, right? That feeling of pushing so hard and wondering if it’s making a difference. What I’ve realized is that the key is to stick with it. Burnout is part of the journey, but it doesn’t mean you should give up.
Preparing for the Storms
On top of TikTok, the past two weeks have brought a different kind of challenge, hurricanes… First came Helene, which wreaked havoc in North Carolina, which we thought would come my way a bit more but didn’t, thank goodness. Then Hurricane Milton made its way across Florida and did quite a bit of damage throughout the state. It’s been a lot to deal with moving my patio and front porch furniture to the garage, stocking up on supplies, checking in with loved ones, all while trying to stay on top of my work.
The stress of the unknown has added a layer of uncertainty to everything, but like in business, preparation is key. You can’t control the storm, but you can control how ready you are for it. In the same way, I’m staying prepared for whatever TikTok, or life, throws at me. Whether it’s a hurricane disrupting my routine or an algorithm change affecting my engagement, I’m learning to stay flexible and adapt.
Juggling It All
Balancing TikTok and hurricane prep has been a challenge. There have been moments when I’ve felt overwhelmed, wondering how I can stay consistent with creating videos when so much else is going on. I’ve come to realize that life is always going to be a bit like that. Distractions and disruptions are part of the process, but the key is to keep going, even when it feels chaotic.
Now that the storms have passed (hopefully for good this season!), I’m going to make a list of questions for my coach, Sophie, and hopefully get more clarity. Then, I’ll reevaluate my approach to TikTok. I’ll be tweaking my strategy and figuring out how to get my videos in front of more viewers. The time off, though, has given me the chance to reset and come back with fresh energy and ideas.
Staying the Course
The theme of these past couple of weeks has been “resilience.” Whether it’s mastering TikTok or bracing for hurricanes, I’ve been learning to stay the course, even when things get tough. Burnout and setbacks are part of the journey, but so is bouncing back. I may not have all the answers yet, but I’m committed to learning as I go, and I’m doing my best to stay consistent.
So, here’s to pushing through, whether you’re facing a creative challenge or an actual storm. We’ve all got our own storms to navigate, but with the right mindset and preparation, we can come out stronger on the other side.
Key Takeaways
1. Consistency is key: Burnout happens, but pushing through is essential to progress.
2. Stay flexible: Both in TikTok and life, adaptability is crucial for overcoming challenges.
3. Preparation matters: Whether facing storms or creative blocks, being ready helps weather the uncertainty.

To Our Success,
Hi Meredith! I am so glad to hear from you and hear that you are safe and weathered the storms – the physical reality of the Hurricanes and the storms of the algorithms of social media platforms. What an incredibly stressful time you have had over the last few weeks, and I commend you for your positive attitude. By the way, your TikTok videos are fantastic. It’s going to pay off, I just know it. I’ve developed a formula that I hope, no, I know, will work. It goes like this: Persistence + Patience = Profits. I know that’s overly simplified but that’s what I need to hang onto as I progressed through this business. Thank you for your takeaways and I wish you much luck as you recover from the many storms and prepare for the sunshine to come! Have a great week
Hi Ernie,
Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. It really means a lot, especially during these challenging times with both the hurricanes and the ups and downs of social media algorithms. I love your formula, Persistence + Patience = Profits! Sometimes it’s easy to forget how important those two ingredients are, but they really are the foundation for success. I’ll definitely be keeping that in mind as I push through. I’m so glad you’re enjoying my TikTok videos! Your support and belief mean everything, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes us both. Wishing you all the best in your business, and here’s to brighter days ahead. Have a wonderful week too!

I hope you’re doing ok after the hurricanes.
I’ve been dealing with the less threatening difficulties of TikTok. It can be very discouraging, and when I spend a bunch of time on a video and TikTok buries it, it quickly makes me feel burned out. I just had to allow myself a break, and not worry too much about it.
I’ve also figured out that I really need to work on my visual hooks, that first second that grabs the viewers attention, and hopefully get them to actually pay attention for even 3 seconds to hear the verbal hook – so they actually know what the video is about.
Hi Nathan,
Thank you for your well wishes. We made it out ok, thank goodness! I totally get what you mean about TikTok, it can feel like a constant battle with the algorithm. When you put so much effort into a video and it doesn’t get the reach it deserves, it’s beyond frustrating. Taking a break was definitely the right move, sometimes we just need to reset and come back stronger.
You’re absolutely on point with the visual hooks! That first second is so critical, especially with how fast people scroll. If we can get them to pause even for a second, we have a much better shot at pulling them in. You’ve got the right mindset, refining those hooks is key. Keep pushing through, I know your hard work will pay off. You’ve got this!

Wonderful to hear your are safe. We don’t have such storms here in AZ. Sound like you have had a lot to juggle, and feeling the burnout with TT is one of them. I am constantly changing my TT strategy to find something that really works. Lots of trial and error.
Hi Scott,
Thank you so much! Yes, juggling everything has been a challenge, but I’m pushing through! I totally feel you on the TikTok burnout, it can be tough to stay motivated when things don’t always go as planned. Constantly tweaking strategies is part of the game, though, isn’t it? Lots of trial and error, just like you said. It’s all about finding what clicks, even if it takes a few tries. We’ve got this!

This really captures that feeling we I get when life decides to throw everything at me at once! Balancing TikTok strategy with hurricane prep sounds intense, but I love how you’re keeping it real and pushing through. We saw everyone on the TV prepping and my thoughts and prayers were with everyone. Life’s storms (literal or not) will always be there, but it’s all about how we handle them. Keep going—you’ve got this!
Hi Sarah,
Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughts! ❤️ It really can feel like everything hits all at once sometimes, but you’re absolutely right, it’s all about how we handle it. Balancing TikTok and hurricane prep was definitely intense, but I’m trying to keep it real and push through, just like you said. Life’s storms, whether they’re from the weather or the algorithm, always seem to come at the same time! Having this kind of support and encouragement makes such a difference. We’ve got this, one step at a time!

Hi Meredith,
happy to read that you and your family are safe; it’s been quite the period of time for many in your area.
Yes, burnouts happen – and sometimes, we don’t even see it coming!
Have to say that I’ve been able to take a few steps back because things were becoming quite hectic and with the daily job requirements, well, I just needed to realize that I needed some time away.
Thanks for the reminder! All the best!
Hi Marc,
Thank you so much for your kind words, it’s been a challenging time, but we’re grateful to be safe. Burnout really can sneak up on you, can’t it? It sounds like stepping back was exactly what you needed, and I totally get it. I had to do the same thing with TikTok. When life gets hectic, sometimes the best thing we can do is take a breather and recharge. I’m glad you gave yourself that time, it’s so important for keeping everything in balance. Wishing you all the best as you ease back in, and thank you again for your thoughtful message!
Meredith
I applaud you for the balancing act you’ve had to endure this hurricane season. Gratitude for your safety is a good place to start. Your TikTok videos are excellent. Don’t worry, it is evolving. Think of where you are now and where you were when you began! The big picture is emblematic of thinking outside the box!
Hi Kate,
Thank you for your support! It’s definitely been a balancing act, but I’m grateful for safety and for the progress I’ve made along the way. Your encouragement means a lot, and I’ll keep pushing forward and evolving. It’s amazing to look back and see how far I’ve come, considering I knew nothing when I first started! Thinking outside the box is key, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next. Thanks again for the positivity!

It’s great to hear you were so well prepared for the impending hurricane. I do hope you were not affected too much. Well done on the persistence with TikTok. I have seen quite a few of yours and you are definitely getting better and more confident the more you do.
Hi Andy,
Fortunately, the hurricane didn’t affect us too badly, and we were well prepared just in case. I really appreciate your support on TikTok, it’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m enjoying the process and growing with each post. Your encouragement means a lot and definitely helps keep me going. 😊 Thanks!
