Hello everyone, and welcome back to my blog today!
It’s been a pretty productive week, and now that my focus isn’t solely on writing emails anymore, I can turn my attention to other things now. Boy, am I glad to take a break from emails for a bit! It seemed like it never was gonna end with my welcome email sequence. It feels refreshing to switch gears and dive into new tasks.
In today’s post, I’ll discuss catching up with the Affiliate System (Beginners Advantage) training and how attending live sessions has boosted my motivation. I’ll also cover Sophie’s feedback on starting my social media journey and the steps I’ve taken to create my first video. Finally, I’ll share an eye-opening fun experience with a Dodge Challenger rental that made me reflect on the possibilities my business could bring.
Catching Up with the Beginners Advantage Training in Affiliate System
One of the things I’ve been reflecting on is my progress with the beginners advantage training. I have to admit, I fell behind a few months ago, but I’m back in the loop of things again. Dean, my mentor, always emphasizes going at your own pace, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. However, since I got behind in the training sessions months ago held every Wednesday, I stopped attending them live. This past Wednesday, I decided to join a live session for the first time in months, and it was an incredible experience. Dean Just mainly went over how our new community (Skool) works and nothing really in-depth, but it felt good to be there again.
Dean always provides such valuable advice, and just being there live with all my peers, knowing we’re all striving for the same goals, felt really good. The sense of community and encouragement in these sessions is unparalleled. So, I’ve made a commitment to show up for the trainings again every Wednesday, even though I might still be a little behind everyone else. The important thing is that I’m back on track and making progress.
Don’t get me wrong, I do get a lot of training and support from my coaches, Sophie and Glenn when needed in the (Daily Ask Me Anything) with my training. Their guidance has been instrumental in my journey. They’ve been there to answer my questions, provide feedback, and help me navigate the complexities of affiliate marketing. It’s great to have mentors who are always willing to lend a helping hand and share their expertise as they have..
Taking the Leap into Social Media
I also received some invaluable feedback from Sophie about my first steps in starting my social media presence. She advised me to set up my TikTok account, which I had already done, and then just jump in and make that first video! Well, that didn’t happen yet!! Sometimes, hearing what you already know from someone else is just what you need to push forward, and that’s exactly what I needed…
The anticipation of actually recording that first video is hard, and of course, there’s always the worry about what everyone will think once it’s out there. Normally, I don’t worry or care too much about what people may think, but because I’m still learning about affiliate marketing, I’m still looking for that confidence I need to start to talk about it more on video. I know it’s supposed to be about my journey and nothing else. I guess that’s where the perfectionist part of me comes in… I just need to get over it and I will eventually.
I’m taking baby steps, but I’m closer today than I was last week, and that’s what matters, right? So far, I’ve created a very small clip of myself and recorded it on my phone to see what I looked like and sounded like. Sometimes it’s good to start there because talking in the mirror is totally different from seeing yourself on video. I was somewhat pleased with it, so I started looking at other people’s first videos to get an idea of what they talked about for their first video. After doing that, I took notes on what I should say. Maybe next week will be the week I post my first ever video! We’ll see and I’ll let you know.
Here Are a Few Things You Can Talk About with Creating Your First Video
-
Introduce yourself and explain who you are and what you have been doing prior to you getting into affiliate marketing.
-
Then explain when and why your journey started in affiliate marketing, what your goals are for your business, and what you want to get out of it.
-
Explain that you want to share your journey with others that are thinking of starting their business in affiliate marketing. That way they can follow you, learn from you in hopes that they get ahead faster, and not make the same mistakes that you will make.
-
Then explain what they can expect from you in the future:
-
-
Shooting short videos that documents your journey as you go through it.
-
The things you have tried that has helped you.
-
The things you have tried that hasn’t helped you.
-
-
Then say your goodbyes for now and that you’ll see them in your next video!
Your first video should be straightforward and genuine. The key is to keep it simple and authentic. Sophie always advises not to overcomplicate things, instead, focus on being yourself. Authenticity resonates more with viewers than perfection. (I will have to work on that part more myself!) Just speak naturally, share your story, and let your personality shine through. The more genuine you are, the more your audience will connect with you.
An Eye-Opening Experience with a Dodge Challenger HEMI
Another thing happened this week that made me open my eyes to what my future could look like. A couple of months ago, I had a little encounter with a deer and had been putting off getting the insurance company to fix my car. So, I took it into the shop the other day, and they paid for a rental for me. I went to Enterprise to pick it up right after dropping my car off. I asked my older son, Zachary, to take me there. Zachary LOVES cars, especially sports cars that go fast! What 18-year-old boy wouldn’t, right?
We went to get the rental, and the guy said to me, “You don’t mind having a sports car, do you?” Of course, I said, “no I don’t mind at all,” because I love sports cars and especially ones that go fast! I didn’t tell him that last part. 😁 We walked up to the car, and the guy mentioned it had a V6 engine. Meanwhile, I looked at my son, and he had a huge smile on his face and said, “This is ridiculous! You are gonna kill yourself in this car…” I just laughed 😅. Neither of us get the joy of riding in a car that goes really fast with our cars..
Currently, I drive a Ford Fusion with a 4-cylinder engine and an EcoBoost feature. It’s zippy and efficient, but I know it doesn’t compare to the power of this car! When we got the Dodge Challenger rental home and took a closer look, we discovered it has a HEMI engine. The Enterprise guy was mistaken about it having a V6. I couldn’t stop laughing, it was such a thrill to drive! I will enjoy it while I have it for sure! After a few days of enjoying that ride, it really made me reflect on the other things I’d love to have in my life but can’t quite afford yet. You noticed I said “yet,” and not “at all.” 😉
It made me think of my business and how it could allow me to have the things I want in life by working hard. Not that I would run out and buy that type of car, it’s fun and all, but it’s a boat! It certainly made me realize that I can achieve and want other things, and that it is possible to get them with hard work and dedication to my business.
It’s funny how you don’t think much about certain things until you get the chance to experience them. Enjoying something nice, like driving a car with a HEMI, really makes you think about how you’d like to have more of those experiences in your life of nice things. This one just kind of fell into my lap. It’s a reminder of how important it is to work towards your goals and create opportunities for yourself.

To Our Success,
Doing videos is the hang up of so many of us starting out, yet video is now the medium of communication. Believe it or not, it gets easier! I personally have a long way to go but the sense of accomplishment after each video I do is worth it. Endorphins and dopamine released from the brain may make the creation of videos addictive. I now can’t go a day without making at least one.
Take that leap of faith and start making those TikToks! We all have a great time supporting each other, there!
Hi Kate,
It really is the way to communicate with the world today, and I know I shouldn’t be afraid to do it. I guess it’s like riding a bike for the first time; we were all scared initially to get on that bike. I know it’ll get easier once I get that first video done. You’ve done such an amazing job with your YouTube channel and I’m genuinely impressed! Thanks, Kate, for the encouragement. I truly appreciate it!

The Dodge Challenger is my son’s favorite car – pretty fun car.
I love traveling with my family, so going on trips is always motivating, because I want more. When I’m not traveling I love watching videos about traveling, and beautiful places around the world to visit – I’m not going to give up, because I want to take my wife and kids all over the world.
Hi Nathan,
The Dodge Challenger is such a cool car, and I can see why your son loves it. I have thoroughly enjoyed it myself… Traveling with family is one of the best experiences, those memories are priceless. I love watching travel videos too, it is a great way to stay inspired and dream about future adventures. Your determination to take your wife and kids all over the world is truly inspiring. I’d love to see the world and take my kids, that’s one of my dreams as well. Keep holding on to that dream, those experiences will be worth every bit of effort.

Hi Meredith,
Great post! (I’m not a car guy but I sure can only imagine the smile – and the looks you got driving that challenger!)
That being said, I think we all need to push ourselves to get to the next level; in my case, August is going to be pretty busy – vacation, etc… so I need to plan now what it will look like.
I’m looking to get into making Tik Tok videos myself and although I had done a couple, I stopped due to mismanagement of my time — that’s another goal for August: manage my time!
All the best!
Hi Marc,
It really has been a joy riding driving it… You’re absolutely right, pushing ourselves to reach the next level is essential. It sounds like you have an exciting August ahead with vacation plans, so planning ahead is definitely a smart move. I hope you have a fabulous time!
I’m glad to hear you’re thinking about getting back into making TikTok videos. Time management can be a challenge, but setting that as a goal for August is a great step. Best of luck with your plans, and I hope you have an amazing month!

Hi Meredith, I can definitely relate to the mix of excitement and anxiety when starting something new, like creating your first social media video. It’s great that Sophie’s feedback gave you the nudge you needed. Sometimes, all it takes is that external encouragement to push past our own self-doubt.
Your reflections on the Dodge Challenger were particularly inspiring. It’s amazing how a simple experience can offer such a clear perspective on our goals and ambitions. That thrill of driving something new really underscores the potential rewards of hard work and dedication. It’s a powerful reminder that the journey toward our goals, though challenging, can lead to some pretty exciting milestones.
I’ve found that setting small, manageable goals can help ease the anxiety of starting new projects. For example, breaking down the process of creating social media content into smaller steps—like scripting, filming a draft, and then reviewing it—can make the whole task feel less daunting.
Looking forward to hearing more about your social media journey and the exciting places it will take you.
Hi Alison,
I really do appreciate your understanding of the mix of excitement and anxiety that comes with starting something new. It’s true that sometimes a bit of external encouragement can make all the difference.
I’m glad you found the reflections on the Dodge Challenger inspiring. It’s amazing how certain experiences can put things into perspective and remind us of the potential rewards of hard work and dedication.
Your advice on setting small, manageable goals is great. Thank you, I will have to try that. I’ll definitely keep that in mind as I move forward with creating content.
Thanks again for your support and encouragement. I will definitely share more about my journey and where it takes me!

Meredith,
When starting something new, I combat initial fears with being on the search for as much information on the subject matter as possible.
It’s nice to hear that you will joining us in the community for the Beginners Advantage trainings. And it was actually a bonus to hear from Dean that these sessions will start a half hour later than normal.
I do look forward to your first video and I share your hesitation to do so. But I know once we get started – THAT will start the ball rolling.
Your list of a few things to talk about in that first video will be helpful for me.
Hi Robert,
I totally agree, gathering as much information as possible really helps to ease those initial fears when starting something new. Thank you for the advice. Yes, I’m looking forward to joining everyone for training in the Beginners Advantage again. The schedule change is a nice bonus for sure! I’m not much of an early bird…
I’m looking forward to sharing my first video and appreciate your support. I’m glad the list of topics will be helpful for you. We just need to get out there and it! Let’s keep pushing forward and supporting each other!
Meredith
Hi, Meredith! It’s great that you had an experience that gave you a taste of what your future might be like! That’s a good idea. I wonder how I could do that myself.
Your list of what to talk about in a first-video is so helpful!
Good luck with TikTok! I look forward to seeing your videos 🙂
Hi Nakina,
Thank you so much! I’m glad you found the idea and the list of topics helpful. It’s amazing how a single experience can provide such clarity and motivation for the future.
I’m excited about diving into TikTok and really appreciate your encouragement. I’ll definitely keep you updated on my progress and can’t wait to share the videos with you. Wishing you the best as you explore ways to get a taste of your future too!
Meredith
Congratulations on completing your email sequence and It’s great that you are now in a position to be able to attend the weekly sessions in person. I haven’t been able to do that yet. I did once but my internet kept dropping out. I too have now caught up with all the weekly trainings and I’m wanting to restart making videos for TikTok as I’ve had a hiatus for the past month or two. Your advice in the blog was a great reminder of what we must do. Good luck with your first video; I can’t wait to see it.
Hi Andy,
Thank you so much! It’s great to hear that you’ve caught up with all the weekly trainings and are ready to dive back into making TikTok videos. I’m sorry to hear about the internet issues you’ve had, technology can be so frustrating sometimes!
I’m glad the advice in the blog was helpful for you. Best of luck with your video projects, I’m sure you’ll do great!
Meredith
Meredith great accomplishment finishing the email sequence. It will be nice to once again see you on Wednesdays. That is a sharp looking car enjoy every minute. As for moving through your fears of doing something new I usually just forge ahead then figure it out. Once you done it fixing the mistakes seems easier. You can do it!
Hi Ken,
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m looking forward to catching up on Wednesdays as well. I really appreciate your support.
You’re absolutely right, sometimes just forging ahead and figuring things out as you go is the best approach. It definitely makes addressing mistakes feel more manageable. I’m excited to take that leap and appreciate your encouragement.
Meredith
Hi Meredith,
Great post! Congrats on completing your email sequence!
Those live sessions I’ve been available for almost all of them, but feel a disconnect if I miss one.
So glad you’ve been able to keep connected while not attending lives. Not easy 🙂
It’s exciting that you’re recording your first TikTok soon, if not already done!
I had a really challenging time getting myself to do the first one. I’ve actually not recorded one for much too long. I want to continue recording and shouldn’t have let it slide.
I’ve also been rethinking and contemplating things I want in my dream life, but I didn’t get inspired by driving a sports car… 🏎️ that’s awesome. So glad you had fun with it! All the best as you fulfill your dreams!
Denny
Hi Denny,
Thank you so much for your kind words! Completing the email sequence was a big milestone, and it feels great to have it done.
I completely understand the disconnect you feel when missing live sessions. Staying connected can be tough sometimes, but it’s wonderful that you’ve been able to keep up even when you can’t attend live.
Getting to the point of recording my first TikTok is very nerve-wracking, but we all have to do it sometime, right? I bet it can be challenging to keep up with it. That’s one of the reasons why have been holding back. I know once you satrt your journey on there you need to continue to keep people interested. It’s never too late to jump back in, though! Sometimes, a little break can give you fresh perspective and renewed energy. You’ve got this!
It’s interesting how different things inspire us. The sports car was a fun experience for me, but our dream lives are unique to each of us. I’m sure you’ll find what truly excites and motivates you.
Meredith
Hi Meredith!
Your blog post truly resonated with me. It’s amazing to see how live training sessions can reignite motivation and help us stay on track with our goals.
I can relate to the initial nervousness of creating that first social media video, but your advice to keep it simple and authentic hit home. And wow, the Dodge Challenger HEMI experience sounds exhilarating! It’s those little unexpected moments that remind us why we’re working so hard toward our dreams.
Looking forward to hearing more about your journey.
Thank you for sharing such an inspiring post. 😊
Hi Ezequiel,
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m glad you found the post motivating and that the advice about keeping social media videos simple and authentic was helpful. Creating that first video can definitely be nerve wracking, but staying true to ourselves makes a big difference.
The Dodge Challenger HEMI experience was definitely a thrilling moment and a fun reminder of why we push toward our goals. It’s those little victories that keep us motivated!
I’m excited to continue sharing my journey. Thanks again for your support and for taking the time to comment. 😊
Meredith
Meredith,
I do envy you that you can make the live sessions with Dean. I work those days and unfortunately cannot make it. I try to listen to the playbacks, but like you I have gotten a few weeks behind but keep going at my own pace also. Good luck with your videos. We are our own worst critic. I am sure you are doing great!
Sherri
Hi Sherri,
Thank you so much for your kind words! I completely understand how challenging it can be to keep up with everything. Life gets busy, and it’s tough to fit everything in, especially with work commitments.
It’s great that you’re listening to the playbacks and continuing at your own pace. Remember, progress is progress, no matter the speed! We’ll both get there in our own time.
Thank you for the encouragement about my videos! It’s true, we are our own worst critics, but with persistence, we can achieve our goals. Best of luck with your journey as well! Let’s keep supporting each other.
Meredith
Hi Meredith – What a relief for you not having to focus so much on emails and have the ability to catch up on your training. I’m in the same boat! I just finished my email sequence and sent my first broadcast email to my list and now I need to catch up on Dean’s training in the new community that we are members of as part of Affiliate System. Congratulations on your decision to dive deeper into the world of social media specifically short videos through TikTok. I look forward to falling you closely and watching you progress! Have a wonderful finish to the week!
Hi Ernie,
It truly is a relief to have the emails sorted and to be able to focus more on training. Congratulations on finishing your email sequence and sending your first broadcast email! That’s a huge step forward.
Catching up on Dean’s training is definitely important and I’m sure you’ll find it as valuable as I have. Diving into social media, especially TikTok, has been an exciting journey. I appreciate your support and encouragement as I explore this new platform.
Wishing you a fantastic week as well, and I look forward to hearing more about your progress!
